Synopsys

Professor Eleazar Fig meets you, and whilst making preparations to depart for Hogwarts, Fig’s friend George from the Ministry apparates in. After departing, the discussions turn to the curious locket George and Eleazar brought along. You show unusual abilities in perceiving strange magic imbuing the container just before a dragon attack claims George and the flying carriage.

The portkey contents of the locket rescue Fig and yourself to a cavern and a path. You learn several things: healing potions, looking and moving, and basic attack. The path and a magically restored bridge lead to ancient ruins and strange portals, ending in another cave with formal architecture and a sleeping goblin in business attire. Your new acquaintance ushers you both to one of the oldest vaults in Gringotts and locks you in.

Learning the divining and luminance spells helps to delve into dark halls and sudden hostilities. Strange waves of magic remove Fig, and you complete another battle that, when ended, returns the professor and reveals a pensieve. A scene of two wizards’ cryptic discussion ends, and Ranrok, the rebel goblin, arrives. Following Fig’s lead and resisting the goblin’s twisted magics, the vault’s own guardian appears and waylays Ranrok while you both escape.

The portal places you within the region of Hogwarts, a healthy hike from the Great Hall. You manage to arrive moments from the end of the house sorting. With no small amount of disgust, Headmaster Black ushers you to the hall dias, and Deputy Headmistress Weasley fits the sorting hat to your head. With your choice made, you retire to your dormitory to rest for the beginning of your first Hogwarts day.

Details Here to There

Beginning a new game hooks the creation of your wizard character. When you accept your choices, the game’s opening cutscene starts with Fig retrieving you from otherwise unknown origins in London. The central mystery of the game is breached, and an unforeseeable dragon attack proves how dangerous even a controlled dragon can be to wizards.

The portkey deposits Professor Fig and the player within a cave near isolated oceanside ruins, and thus begins the integrated orientation to game mechanics. Besides movement of the camera and your character, we receive instruction in using Wiggenweld potions to heal. As previously mentioned in the cinematic, Fig continues to instruct the player in spellcraft and its uses, initially unlocking the basic attack cast. Fig’s examples display how much more we need to learn as a witch or wizard. Our explorations reveal fountains of ancient magic that we can tap, defining and conjuring portals among many other things.

The path leads to Gringotts. We encounter various goblins through the deepest vaults, explore magical concealment, discovery, and illumination, and receive the first taste of wizard combat. At first, you assist Fig in battle, but the required test is for one with the ancient sight. You fight alone and are rewarded with a memory. Fig returns, and you both discover the remembrance of two who will be known soon as keepers. A commotion outside the vault introduces Ranrok, our prime antagonist. Goblin plots and conflicts unfold with a hasty retreat to where we wanted to end up all along.

Fig and the player arrive upon far afield Hogwarts grounds with barely enough time to make it to the castle and get ourselves sorted into our house. We are introduced to him who would eventually be known as one of the least liked headmasters in Hogwarts history, Phineas Nigellus Black. Professor Weasley, the deputy headmistress, leads you to the stool in front of the great hall and fits the Sorting Hat to your head. When the hat exclaims its/your choice to the hall, Black reminds the students of the ban on Quidditch matches, to disapproving calls, and dismisses the tables. Weasley leads the character to their dormitory, and by the end of this day, we rest, ready to carry on at Hogwarts.

  • The quest is completed before we have the field guide. It is not tracked in the challenges, nor does it contribute experience points.
  • I have not noticed a complete quest notification for this quest. The “Welcome to Hogwarts” quest begins notification instances after the “first day at Hogwarts” begins.

What Have We Here?

Several general chests can be found during the opening walkthrough. There is a handful of coins in each.

Backtrack after climbing the high wall before the keep bridge. A chest sits around the left corner of the path opposite the path to the broken keep bridge.

Through the broken banister and right between the bridge and the front of the ruins of the keep. Near a strange arrangement of dolls and empty packages, a chest rests on the left next to the wall.

The Vault 12 entryway, near the left wall beyond ropes, before reaching the desk of the goblin concierge.

Before Vault 12’s door, on the right of the platform.

Three chests can be found with Revelio in the dark, ancient halls, between dealing with the pensieve guards and the first and second ancient magic fountains, once you’re on your own. Find them southeast of the first conflict, northeast of the same point, and northwest of the second fountain. Considering the size of the space, the darkness, and the limitations of Revelio, there could be more.

Two chests, one in the right wall recess, one in the left recess, in the Pensieve Room.
