Quests ♦ Hogwarts Legacy

Prelude and Prepare

The game begins with Professor Eleazar Fig collecting the player from London. The cinematic breaks into an opening sequence that introduces and interacts with the game world, movement, controls, and tool use. You also sample combat. Once you are sorted into your house, the game truly begins.

Arrival

“Attend Your First Day at Hogwarts”

The first block of quests introduces the player to the Hogwarts Legacy world and the through-line story. The first day comprises your beginning of life at Hogwarts. The world is not yet open, and time does not pass at what will be a regular pace. The first set of significant spells is unlocked. This provides an opportunity to quickly unlock a considerable set of experience-related rewards in your field guide. Beyond experience rewards, a substantial focus should include discovering floo network endpoints. Even with loading time, this is the fastest means to get around in the game and will also be useful for resource collection and unloading.

Late Summer

Highland Open Quests

After the world is opened beyond the first day, several quests become available in various towns. Some require skills that have yet to be acquired. Others could be more than the player can handle without buffs or abilities.

“Regroup With Professor Fig”

After the return from Hogsmeade, time will continue at a regular pace. You must deal with day and night cycles and only be able to do some things during these times or use the map’s time-passing mechanic. You also have access to the whole of the world. However, you can only walk or use any floo you have discovered in your travels.

“Find the Secret in the Restricted Section”

Professor Fig makes a discovery, but you must seek assistance to further the plot.

“Live as a Student”

After your discovery, the next wave of spells arrives. A new, though repetitive, experience task is revealed.

“Find the Missing Pages”

Each house provides a unique path forward as you make a new, though deceased, friend. You also make a significant discovery in the mystery that began with the locket.

Considering timing and exploration, you may manage to unlock most of your spell lore, which should serve you well as you begin the real Trials.

Fall

“Improve Your Magical Abilities to Access the Next Trial”

Several threads spool out before you. Beast lore will expand your skills. Abilities can be set to enable many buffs and quality-of-play options. An extensive set of side quests expands the lore and opens more of the world to your exploration and the expansion of ancient magic skills and curses.

Early Winter

“Prepare for Your Search for the Next Keeper”

After Rookwood’s trial, you significantly further your relationships, complete your spell lore in all but the darkest ways, and play out a Keeper’s retelling of a well-known wizard fable.
