How about a May newsletter?
I don’t do newsletters. Even when I can post an update, the results of occasional “what’s going on now” messages certainly don’t land with monthly regularity. Let’s get into this.
Beyond the Easter/Spring break period of last month, I also took a massive road trip. The Rockies were fantastic to see up close when I finally started the descent from the Denver area. I wasn’t going to Vegas for Vegas’ sake, but the drive out let me experience these things I’d previously only seen others’ photos of. I wish I’d thought of a camera sooner than before starting the trip back. I finally met Gary, Mel, Eric, X-Ray, Comix, Garrett, as well as Jake D, Just-Another-Redshirt, and his wife. That was worth even the inclement evening mountain weather and a slug of traction chain in my tire on the first evening of the return trip.
Lots of tweaks to the new map. More site tweaks improved bits with the mobile experience on the site and the map. The site search has had the query limit removed. Searches will now turn up everything that satisfies the SQL query rather than just the first 10 things. Also, several page and link updates were written to update context and relevance. Even a few styling updates to make certain parts look like they belong with everything else.
Now with the working bits for my content system co-existing, I’ve got work to do filling descriptions, details, and relationships.
I love that I can now point out every collection chest in Hogwarts Legacy on my map. It makes me happy.
Edit: Throwing this on for not only the ones who actually read this, but also read this far, and also read this from mobile, thank you. Specifically, I appreciate those showing up on mobile according to my minimalist site metrics. Most of all, I will apologize to mobile users because I often have issues with mobile displays and UI that I don’t know about. The debug loop on mobile is not integrated, and so unreliable for giving me feedback. Solving the ridiculous floor control UI bug that was completely failing on mobile in the Hogwarts map drove me batty. It goes beyond appreciation if you go through the discomfort of filling out the information to drop an honest, helpful critique. I do this in the dark. A handful of people show up, and I know I’m not as helpful as IGN or Reddit or all other sources where one might go, but in the end, I offer this to help people or pass on information.
Thank you for your attention. May you be well.
